Q. Can BCAB help with funding towards the cost of training?
A. Yes, we have a scholarship fund available to all BCAB members.
Q. Do I need to be a BCAB member to apply for funding?
A. Yes, the scholarship fund is one of the many benefits of joining BCAB.
Q. Can I apply for funding towards the cost of BCAB courses?
A. Yes, this is the main purpose of the scholarship fund.
Q. Can I apply for funding towards the cost of external courses?
A. Yes, in exceptional circumstances we will consider applications for training courses not delivered by BCAB.
Q. Under what exceptional circumstances will BCAB consider applications for funding towards external courses?
A. You'll need to make the case for the course significantly improving your job prospects, or being key to your retaining your current employment position.
Q. How much funding can I apply for?
A. We've set down the following general guidelines, based on length of BCAB membership:
- Up to 25% for applicants who have been BCAB members for at least one year, but less than three years.
- Up to 50% for applicants who have been BCAB members for more than three years.
Q. I'm a student/unemployed, can I still apply for funding?
A. Yes, in fact we try to prioritise applications from BCAB members in education or looking for work.
Q. When should I apply for funding towards a training course?
A. You should send in your application as soon as possible, but definitely no later than three weeks before the course date.
Q. Can I apply for funding towards the cost of more than one training course?
A. Yes, but applications are limited to one per year for BCAB members.
Q. I'm a BCAB member, how do I apply for funding towards a training course?
A. Send your application to secretary@bcab.org.uk. You should include details of the course, why it is important to you, and why you think BCAB should contribute towards the cost.
Q. Ok, I've sent in my application, what happens next?
A. Your application will be considered by an executive committee within BCAB's board of trustees. We'll be in touch as soon as we've reached a decision.
Q. My application was successful, is there anything else I need to do?
A. Yes, we ask BCAB members who received funding to write two short reports:
- An evaluation of the course to be sent to secretary@bcab.org.uk.
- A write up of the course for the newsletter to be sent to newsletter@bcab.org.uk.
