The Lost Elephants of Denbigh transcript

Some say they are myth, only legend;
There are stories men tell late at night
Of the times they have seen them .... well, nearly...
That they know where they are.... well, not quite.

Some say that one cold winter evening
They were - all of them - down in the park
And everyone there would have seen them
Had the night been a little less dark.

The Lost Elephants of Denbigh;
Are but shadowy forms in the mist
Rumours of sightings in Lidl,
Doubts; do they really exist?

You'll not hear them, for they stand in silence
You'll not hear a whisper; not one.
You'll not see them move; they're unmoving;
Except when they move; then they've gone.

They were spotted once in Porthmadog;
Crowds flocked to the scene from afar;
It seems they were asking directions.
Lost elephants don't know where they are.

And where have they gone? Oh, the question
Brings furrows to many a brow;
They've been lost for such a long time
They could be in Kenya by now,

Roaming the great Masai Mara
Where only the fittest survive;
Could they speak, they would ask every tourist
Which way's the A525?

The Lost Elephants of Denbigh
Have been seen by a fool down in Flint;
He's sure that its them, but I doubt it;
He says that it is, but it int.

Alas, there are many false sightings;
Detailed study will glean
That the Found Elephants of Denbigh
Are what they have probably seen.

The Found Elephants of Denbigh
Are pretty much as you'd expect;
They look very much like the Lost ones
And differ in but one respect.

I will try to clear up the confusion,
Though rumours will always abound;
The Found ones are no longer lost;
The Lost ones have never been found.

The Lost Elephants of Denbigh
Have rarely been seen, I'm afraid;
In this they are unlike the Found ones;
The Found ones were merely mislaid.

The Lost ones are not often spotted,
Not even seen from afar.
Now, the Found ones .... herein lies the difference;
You open the door; there they are.

There's but one way of knowing for certain
That your eyes have just not gazed upon
The Lost Elephants of Denbigh;
You open the door and they've gone.
