EyeT4All days

The British Computer Association of the Blind (BCAB) deliver EyeT4All days in partnership with voluntary societies for blind and partially sighted people, as well as with other agencies such as libraries and community centres. However, BCAB can deliver EyeT4All days to almost any group of blind and partially sighted people who want to find out about using a computer for the first time.
BCAB provide all of the equipment, a certified trainer, and even an Internet connection. All a partnering organisation has to provide is the venue, the people participating, and lunch for everyone.
Easy, Affordable Access Technology
For a blind or partially sighted person to use a computer, some form of access technology is needed. An access technology can magnify the content on screen, or translate it into electronic speech. There is a wide range of access technologies available on the market, some of which can cost as much as £850.
BCAB has assessed several access technologies for blind and partially sighted people, with an emphasis on ease of use and affordability. Some organisations publish evaluations based on lists of features, but BCAB assessments are based on practical tasks.
Will an access technology allow a person to do the things they want? Typical tasks include:
- Communication through writing letters and sending email.
- Getting and keeping personal information.
- Shopping.
- Reading.
- Entertainment.
- Exploring the web.
Low cost and easy to use access technologies are presented on the day. BCAB believe that the benefits of computers and technology should be available to everyone, not just those in work. In order to provide as much support as possible, a year's free membership to BCAB is given to each person attending an EyeT4All day.
Arrange An EyeT4All Day

If you are a member of an organisation with blind and partially sighted members who would be interested in an EyeT4All day, please encourage them to contact BCAB.
If you represent an organisation with at least 10 to 12 members who would like to attend an EyeT4All day, please contact the EyeT4All Administrator. Single or multiple EyeT4All days can be arranged as required.
