The Technology Association of Visually Impaired people (TAVIP) supports the use of mainstream and specialist technology by blind and partially sighted people at home, at work and in education.
The charity was founded in 1969 as the British Computer Association of the Blind (BCAB) and was re-named as TAVIP in 2018 to reflect it’s work with people with all levels of sight loss.
Today the organisation has over 400 members from across the UK and internationally, including people who are just setting out on their use of technology through to people who are leading experts in the use of assistive and accessible technology.
We’re involved in the following key activities:
- Sharing impartial advice about computers, tablets, mobiles and assistive technologies.
- Campaigning for equal access to technology and the internet.
- Hosting independent technology help lines and a discussion forum.
- Producing technology articles, tutorials and webinars.
- Holding technology meetups and events.
- Providing specialist IT training for people in education and work.
